Dr. Thomas Chang received his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.D. degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He then completed a medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital and a radiology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, both in Philadelphia, and a body imaging fellowship at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh. He received his Board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1990 and became a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2006.
For nine years, he specialized in all aspects of women's imaging as a radiologist at Magee-Women’s Hospital, where he also briefly served as Interim Medical Director, and at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). During that time, he was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a "Teacher of the Year" award from the residents. He has been with Weinstein Imaging Associates since 2000.
To his credit are numerous publications and presentations at national conferences. Dr. Chang has been a film reviewer for the Mammography Accreditation Program of the American College of Radiology. He is also a manuscript reviewer for the American Journal of Roentgenology, one of the key peer-reviewed journals in the field of Radiology. He has served as President of the Pittsburgh Roentgen Society, the Breast Imaging Society of Pittsburgh, and the Pennsylvania Radiological Society. His accomplishments have earned him listings in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Guide to America's Top Radiologists, and Pittsburgh Magazine's Best Doctors list.
